Women’s Retirement
In a recent survey, only 18 per cent of Canadian women with children reported being “very satisfied” with their retirement planning.
Almost half said they had no retirement plan at all.
I’m Derek Cooper, Senior Investment Advisor with TD Wealth Private Investment Advice here in Kingston.
Here are four things to help you start preparing for retirement:
1. Talk openly about money.
a. Money touches every aspect of our lives.
b. Talking directly about it can help us engage with it in a healthy way.
2. Accept that financial planning is a skill, not a talent.
a. You can start to learn that skill any time.
3. Build your confidence.
a. Introduce small, sustainable steps like talking with a friend about your financial situation.
b. Every step matters.
4. Get the support you need. Wealth advisors are trained to help you with financial literacy.
Learning to view money management as a skill starts with an open and honest conversation. After all, money talks. And so can we. Call me at 613-549-9008.
